Make Noise

Eight-channel CV and audio event generator for the New Universal Synthesizer System or any Eurorack modular synthesizer. Uses a single set of controls to generate complex functions at eight independent channel outputs, combining Rise-Fall envelopes with variable Curve and a variable-Shape Oscillation whose amplitude is controlled by the envelopes.798

Capabilities 3

Envelope Generatorenvelope-generator
Eight-channel Rise-Fall envelope generator with variable Curve; all eight channels share a single set of controls with Spread and Modulation Dissemination for per-channel variation.798
LFOlfo
Each channel includes a variable-Shape oscillator (saw/triangle/ramp) that can operate at LFO rates with depth controlled by the Rise-Fall envelope, modulated per-channel via Spread or Modulation Dissemination.798
Voltage-Controlled Oscillatorvco
Oscillator can run at audio frequency with 1V/oct pitch tracking via Rate CV input (attenuverter fully CW), enabling eight-channel polyphonic audio generation.798

Parameters 16

NameTypeRangeBehavior
CurveknobSets the curve of activated functions from logarithmic to linear to exponential. Unlike MATHS/FUNCTION/0-COAST, it has been tailored for multi-channel use with Spread and Modulation Dissemination. The CV input is a traditional live modulation input unaffected by Spread.798
Cycle Buttonbutton798
FallknobSets the time for the function to travel back down to minimum voltage after Rise completes. More clockwise = longer fall time. Can be modulated via Spread or Modulation Dissemination.798
Fall attenuverterknob798
Mode Buttonbutton798
OscknobSets the depth of oscillation superimposed on activated functions. At full CCW only the function appears; at full CW full-scale oscillation is present enveloped by the function. Can be modulated via Spread or Modulation Dissemination.798
RateknobSets the rate/frequency of oscillation from slowest (CCW) to fastest (CW). When attenuverter is fully CW and CV is patched for Modulation Dissemination, tracks 1 V/oct. Can be modulated via Spread or Modulation Dissemination.798
Rate Attenuverterknob798
RiseknobSets the time for the function to travel up to maximum voltage. More clockwise = longer rise time. Shorter rise times produce percussive functions; longer ones create breathing/swelling effects. Can be modulated via Spread or Modulation Dissemination.798
Rise attenuverterknob798
ShapeknobDetermines the shape of the oscillation: falling saw at CCW, triangle at 12:00, rising ramp at CW. Using CV beyond the knob range produces other waveforms including noise. The Shape CV Input is a traditional live modulation input unaffected by Spread.798
Zones
Triangle
  • Triangle 0–0%Triangle waveform at 12 o'clock position.798
SpanknobSets the Channel Span for Activation according to current Span Mode. In Channel Index mode, selects which of the 8 channels is active; at 12:00 selects no channel, left selects channels 8-1, right selects channels 1-8. In Round mode sets step size. In Parallel mode sets clock division spread.798
Span CV Input attenuverterknob798
Spread Combo PotknobBipolar combo pot. Sets direction and amount of Spread modulation sent to unpatched Spreadable parameters weighted per channel. When Spread CV Input is patched, operates as a bipolar attenuator for that CV.798
Strengthknob-9V – 9VBipolar control setting overall amplitude and polarity of function and/or oscillation output. CCW: negative polarity (0 to -9VDC). At noon: 0VDC (no activity). CW: positive polarity (0 to +9VDC). Can be modulated via Spread or Modulation Dissemination.798
Zones
Negative
Positive
  • Negative -100–0%Output is of negative polarity, from 0V at noon down to -9VDC at full CCW.798
  • Positive 0–100%Output is of positive polarity, from 0V at noon up to +9VDC at full CW.798
