Delay 1
A fully analogue bucket brigade delay module with split-phase topology, providing two dry/wet mix outputs. Features an integrated high-frequency clock VCO with V/oct response, feedback loop with polarity switch and damping filter, a dedicated Karplus-Strong pluck input, and HF clock I/O for synchronising multiple units.1121

Jacks 11 (7 in / 4 out)
| Name | Signal | Voltage | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inputs (7) | |||
| Blend Modulation Input | cv | ≤5V | CV input for blend ratio modulation; +5 V yields 100% wet. Depth and polarity set by the paired knob.1121 |
| Damping Modulation Input | cv | — | CV input for feedback filter (damping) modulation; depth set by paired polariser knob with approximately ±1 V/oct range.1121 |
| HF Input | clock | 0V to 5V | External high-frequency clock input that overrides the internal BBD clock VCO. Expects a square wave (50% duty cycle, 0–+5 V swing); recommended range 20 kHz–1 MHz. When patched, the coarse/fine knobs and time CV inputs are disabled.1121 |
| Pluck Input | trigger | ≥3V | Trigger input for Karplus-Strong synthesis. A rising edge above +3 V fires a noise transient into the delay line, producing string-like tones whose pitch, decay and timbre are determined by delay time, feedback and damping.1121 |
| Signal Input | audio | — | Main audio input for the signal to be delayed.1121 |
| Time Modulation Input | cv | — | Second exponential CV input for delay time modulation; depth is set by the paired polariser knob.1121 |
| V/Oct TM Input | cv | — | Exponential V/oct CV input for delay time modulation; each additional volt halves the delay time, enabling pitch-accurate synthesis use.1121 |
| Outputs (4) | |||
| Blend Output Negative | audio | — | Second blend output providing the difference (subtractive mix) of wet and dry signals; ratio set by the Blend knob. Useful for stereo conversion and complementary comb filtering.1121 |
| Blend Output Positive | audio | — | Main blend output providing the sum (additive mix) of dry and wet signals; ratio set by the Blend knob.1121 |
| Delay Output | audio | — | 100% wet delay output, unaffected by the Blend parameter. Always outputs the delayed signal only.1121 |
| HF Output | clock | 0V to 5V | Buffered copy of the BBD clock signal (internal or external), alternating between 0 V and +5 V. Useful for synchronising multiple Delay 1 units.1121 |
Parameters 10
| Name | Type | Range | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blend | knob | — | Sets the dry/wet ratio fed to both blend outputs. Centre position is a 1:1 mix; fully clockwise is 100% wet.1121 |
| Blend Modulation | knob | — | Polariser knob for the blend CV input; bipolar range. A CV of +5 V corresponds to 100% wet.1121 |
| Coarse Delay Time | knob | 1ms – 50ms | Sets the delay time. Fully clockwise gives the shortest time; the range spans 1–50 ms. Disabled when an external signal is patched to the HF input.1121 |
| Damping | knob | 22Hz – 22000Hz | Sets the corner frequency of the voltage-controlled filter in the feedback path. Turning clockwise increases attenuation from minimum. Direction of frequency sweep reverses depending on LP/HP switch position.1121 |
| Damping Modulation | knob | -1V/octave – 1V/octave | Polariser knob for the damping CV input; centre is zero modulation, extremes are approximately ±1 V/oct affecting the feedback filter's corner frequency.1121 |
| Damping Response | switch | — | Selects between lowpass and highpass filter response for the feedback path damping filter. In both positions, clockwise rotation of the Damping knob increases attenuation.1121 |
| Feedback | knob | 0% – 100% | Controls the amount of delayed signal fed back into the input. At short delay times this creates resonances; at long times it creates echo repeats. High amounts cause audible saturation in the feedback path.1121 |
| Feedback Polarity | switch | — | Two-position switch selecting between in-phase ('sum') and inverted ('anti') feedback polarity, altering the timbre of the feedback signal.1121 |
| Fine Delay Time | knob | — | Fine adjustment of delay time; its full travel covers 10% of the coarse knob's range. Disabled when an external signal is patched to the HF input.1121 |
| Time Modulation | knob | -1V/octave – 1V/octave | Polariser knob that sets the modulation depth of the TM CV input on delay time exponentially; centre position is zero depth, extremes are ±1 V/oct.1121 |
