A-137-2

Doepfer

Wave Multiplier II: generates four phase-shifted copies of an audio input signal (sawtooth, triangle, or sine) and adds them to the original to produce a fat sound similar to five independent VCOs. Phase shifting is achieved by comparing the input with a slowly varying CV; the resulting rectangle is algebraically added to produce shifted waveforms.512

Capabilities 2

Wavefolderwavefolder
Generates four phase-shifted copies of the input signal and sums them with the original for a thick, multi-VCO-like timbre.512

NameSignalVoltageDescription
Inputs (5)
Audio Inaudio—Audio input with attenuator. Works with sloped signals (sawtooth, triangle, sine) but not rectangles or pulses. Level sets the correct summation ratio between original and comparator signals.512
CV Shift 1cv—512
CV Shift 2cv—512
CV Shift 3cv—512
CV Shift 4cv—512

Parameters 14

NameTypeRangeBehavior
Audio In Levelknob—Attenuates the audio input signal to set the correct summation level between the original signal and the four comparator (shifted) signals.512
CV Shift 1 Attenuatorknob—Attenuates the CV signal applied to CV Shift 1 input before it modulates shifting circuit 1.512
CV Shift 2 Attenuatorknob—Attenuates the CV signal applied to CV Shift 2 input before it modulates shifting circuit 2.512
CV Shift 3 Attenuatorknob—Attenuates the CV signal applied to CV Shift 3 input before it modulates shifting circuit 3.512
CV Shift 4 Attenuatorknob—Attenuates the CV signal applied to CV Shift 4 input before it modulates shifting circuit 4.512
Jumper 1jumper—Summing jumper for one of 5 signals (original + 4 shifted). See appendix for board positions.512
Jumper 2jumper—Enables or disables shifted copy 2 in the summing mix. Can be replaced by an external toggle switch.512
Jumper 3jumper—Enables or disables shifted copy 3 in the summing mix. Can be replaced by an external toggle switch.512
Jumper 4jumper—Enables or disables shifted copy 4 in the summing mix. Can be replaced by an external toggle switch.512
Jumper 5jumper—Enables or disables the original (unshifted) signal in the summing mix. Can be replaced by an external toggle switch.512
Shift 1knob—Manual shift control for shifting circuit 1; sets the comparison level that determines the phase offset of the first copied signal.512
Shift 2knob—Manual shift control for shifting circuit 2; sets the comparison level that determines the phase offset of the second copied signal.512
Shift 3knob—Manual shift control for shifting circuit 3; sets the comparison level that determines the phase offset of the third copied signal.512
Shift 4knob—Manual shift control for shifting circuit 4; sets the comparison level that determines the phase offset of the fourth copied signal.512
