Ikarie
Stereo or dual-peak filter with two parallel 12dB/oct state-variable filter cores, continuously sweeping between lowpass and highpass with a single knob, built-in envelope follower, input overdrive, output stereo VCA, and a Beyond output for difference-spectrum twin-peak filtering.1165
Capabilities 3
- Envelope Followerenvelope-follower
- Built-in envelope follower reads the L IN signal and outputs a CV normalled to the MOD input, enabling auto-filter/auto-wah behaviour with three selectable decay speeds.1165
- Stereo Filterstereo-filter
- Two parallel 12dB/oct state-variable filter cores sweep continuously between LP and HP; can operate as stereo pair, dual-mono, or series 24dB/oct chain.1165
- Voltage-Controlled Amplifiervca
- Internal VCA pair per filter channel used for LP/HP switching and also for post-filter amplitude control via the VCA CV input (0–5V).1165
Jacks 11 (7 in / 4 out)
| Name | Signal | Voltage | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inputs (7) | |||
| L IN | audio | — | Left audio input; normalled to R IN when R IN is unpatched. Also feeds the envelope follower.1165 |
| MOD | cv | — | CV input for modulating the cutoff of both filters; normalled from the FOLLOW output when unpatched.1165 |
| R IN | audio | — | Right audio input; receives a normalled copy of L IN unless a cable is connected.1165 |
| RESONANCE CV | cv | — | CV input for resonance; when patched, the RESONANCE fader becomes an attenuator setting the maximum resonance level the CV can reach.1165 |
| STEREO | cv | — | CV input for stereo spread or pan; when patched, the STEREO knob becomes an attenuverter for the incoming CV.1165 |
| V/OCT | cv | — | 1V/octave pitch CV input that modulates both filter cutoffs in sync; scaling trimmer accessible from front panel.1165 |
| VCA CV | cv | 0V to 5V | CV input for the output VCA; without a cable the filter passes at unity, with a cable the output is muted until a positive voltage opens it up.1165 |
| Outputs (4) | |||
| BEYOND | mixed | — | Outputs the spectral difference between the two filter signals, creating a twin-peak bandpass response; can also be used as a modulation or ring-modulator output.1165 |
| FOLLOW | cv | — | Envelope follower output tracking the amplitude of the L IN signal; normalled to the MOD input for auto-filter operation.1165 |
| L OUT | audio | — | Left filter output; when used alone carries both left and right channels mixed; carries only left filter when R OUT is also connected.1165 |
| R OUT | audio | — | Right filter output; patch L OUT into R IN and listen here for 24dB/oct series filtering.1165 |
Parameters 7
| Name | Type | Range | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| CUTOFF | knob | — | Center position gives an open filter; rotating CCW applies lowpass sweep cutting high frequencies; rotating CW applies highpass sweep cutting low frequencies.1165 |
| FOLLOW switch | switch | — | Three-position switch setting the envelope follower's response speed: SLOW (natural release, pumping), MID (tighter, suited to mid-range), or FAST (near-instantaneous, full-wave rectifier character).1165 |
| INPUT | knob | 0x gain – 5x gain | Controls input amplification from silence up to 5× gain; mid position provides clean balanced resonances while higher settings introduce overdrive that retains bass.1165 |
| MOD attenuverter | knob | — | Attenuverter for the MOD CV input; center blocks all modulation, CW passes positive modulation to cutoff, CCW inverts the signal before applying it to cutoff.1165 |
| RESONANCE | fader | — | Emphasises the cutoff frequency up to full self-oscillation; when a CV cable is inserted the fader becomes an attenuator capping the maximum CV-driven resonance level.1165 |
| STEREO | knob | — | In SPREAD mode controls the detuning between the two filter cutoffs; in PAN mode controls panning or (in mono) crossfades L and R filters at L OUT; when STEREO jack is patched, becomes an attenuverter for the incoming CV.1165 |
| STEREO switch | switch | — | Two-position switch selecting SPREAD (detuning between filter cutoffs) or PAN (level balance between left and right filter outputs) stereo modes.1165 |
